The Latina Women’s League partnered with UF Hispanic Heritage Month 2018 again this year to celebrate their 50 years. The literacy fair will celebrate Latinx authors and stories with a book auction, including books by award-wining Latin America author Isabelle Allende and Mexican fiction writer Valeria Luiselli, reduced-price books, cultural entertainment, and lively discussions led by UF professor Dr. Paul Ortiz, author of Africa American & Latinx History of the United States.
Hispanic Heritage Month at the University of Florida is a student-run celebration that aims to engage, empower and entertain the UF student population with an emphasis on the Hispanic/Latinx community. UFHHM strives to showcase the differences and similarities between our numerous nationalities. In doing so, we give the Hispanic/Latinx community a space to demonstrate their pride. We wish to serve as a voice for the Hispanic-Latinx and immigrant community in Gainesville.
