Liz Getman graduated from the University of Florida in May 2015 with an MA in Latin American Studies. Her research interests relate to violence against women in Mayan communities and the intersection of Mayan and Eastern medicine in Guatemala. She has spent a significant amount of time in Guatemala in recent years, working for various NGOs and studying with local curanderos (healers). Liz works as a writer with several nonprofits and Spanish annotator with the University of Pennsylvania, but her real passion lies in healing and wellness work, including dance/movement therapy and meditation.
